Prescribed medication Withdrawal
Peer Support Group
@ nant hall church – this is our official title although, at present, we are concentrating on ANTIDEPRESSANT WITHDRAWAL.
We aim to support by listening and sharing our experiences in a relaxed atmosphere.
We support those who TAKE prescribed medications ( antidepressants at the moment) to know more about them.
We support those who are REDUCING or WITHDRAWING from their medications to have up-to-date information on withdrawal.
We support those who want to weigh the pros and cons of STARTING or STOPPING medications.
ALL ARE WELCOME WHETHER ALREADY WITHDRAWING OR NOT.
Whenever we take medications prescribed for us by our doctors in order for them to improve our health, there is always a possibility of unexpected reactions to them. It is important, if this happens, that we realize it could well be the medication that we are taking that is causing these new symptoms. Our aim is to support you by giving you valid information about what might be happening to you. Our information comes from a website called RxISK.org.
WE ARE NOT LINKED TO A DOCTOR’S SURGERY, WE ARE, QUITE SIMPLY, ORDINARY MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE OF WITHDRAWAL.
Maybe you have problems when your medication level is raised or if the dose is lowered. Perhaps you need to talk about ways of reducing your medications or about withdrawing them completely.
We CAN give you INFORMATION about this and INFORM you of where you can find more information. We CANNOT advise you about making changes to YOUR MEDICATIONS.
REMEMBER – we are NOT doctors or nurses. YOU WILL MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT YOUR SURGERY IF YOU DECIDE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR MEDICATIONS.
By sharing, we can learn from you and, hopefully, you will feel supported as we share our experiences with you. The withdrawal journey is not a journey to make alone!
